Hi, new to this site, and the proud new owner of an 88 s10 that I plan to stuff a V8 into in the next 6 months or so.
Does anyone know where I could find the paint color code for my 88 s10? It is two-tone, gray and black. I kinda like the old 80s factory color, and wish to touch up some spots rather than repaint the whole truck.
Unfortunately, the label in the glove box is gone.

take it to a local bodyshop they will have paint chips that you can match it up to,they will also have books that tell them the paint codes

what he said plus i think the code is on the option chart should be in your glove box on a sticker so trucks dont have one though at least not in the glove box

It will be in the glove box on the option code sticker. It is the one that is about 3x5\" in size. Look on the bottom line and look to the left side. You\'ll see a WA or U followed by a 4 digit number. With a 2 tone color piant job there will be a primary and secondary color. The first one is usally the primary colr and the second one will be the secondary color.
You\'ll have no problems if the glove box has not been molested.

Yeah, there are no stickers in the glove box. Someone mentioned the dealer, I called them, and they said I was SOL. Hadn\'t thought about the body shop. Good thinking. Thanks for all the info y\'all. BTW, can anoyone point me to any comprehensive docs on what all is involved with stabbing a V8 in it? I\'m sure the info is here, just cant find it. Looking for high level of view all the work that is involved.
P.S. If you live in Austin, drop me a line at kmcbride@cobaltgroup.com. I\'ve seen a silver/gray S10 with a V8 at Golds Gym a couple times, and it looks cool as hell. Want to take a closer look at it.
Thanks again,
-kurt

Go to the parts section. There\'s all kinds of info on the swap there. Or just ask a lot of questions. We\'ll all be here to help.
