I suggest a good \'ol \"true double roller\" chain drive. Those noisy gear drives are as annoying as a fart pipe.

Do not buy these ones.

Jegs part # 778-66917c or

Jegs part # 350-7890

The first one i wouldn\'t wipe my butt with, bought it and there was so much play in it that it woulda advanced itself about 10* on start up. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif

Second one fits so tight that you cant degree the cam even if you wanted too.

I wouldnt use a gear drive. my teacher has a 750+ hp dirt track engine (420) all aluminum block and heads and he uses a chain.

Have you had your lifter bores checked for alignment? That alone can cause as much as a 6Deg. error in cam /valve timing! What about the cam bore/crank alignment? It can be off too.

If you don\'t have these errors corrected then why waste your money on an \"accurate\" noisy gear drive? I know a guy that paid $60 ea. for titanium rod bolts for a motor that never saw over 6 grand! Same analogy.

Not trying to be a wise as_s-just trying to save you some $$$ on something that will not gain u ANY performance unless everything else is right-on. Oh-and don\'t forget about the destructive valve train HARMONICS those gears produce!!! That\'s why the Nascar boys use a belt!
