I have a wilwood pro street setup in the rear of mine. It was cake to setup, even though i have the 12bolt with 9\" ends its all pretty much the same. The calipers and mounts dont weight more than 3 pounds all together! You WILL have to put a camaro master cylinder in your truck though (or a master that has 4wheel discs) I used one off an IROC, works NICE! Dont try and use the stock one, it doesnt work it doesnt feed the rear with enough pressure. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

98+ F-body brakes work teh easiest, so Im told. The mounting brackets are different, and position the caliper better. The e- brake is usually the hardest thing to fabb up. Newer bravadas, Jimmy\'s, blazers etc. come with rear discs. They should bolt right up with no problems. I think that the X blazer\'s come with them standard. Every one I\'ve see has had them.

Good news the rearend I picked up from the salvage yard worked great.(99 ss camaro) we had to trasfer the brackets the leaf springs sit on over to the new housing, other than that it was simple as can be, I took the iroc master cylinder idea, seems to be working fine http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

How did the LT-1 swap go? What type of problems did you have? I am planning the same swap with an LT-1 vette crate motor.
this topic is rear disk brakes, let\'s stay on topic.

Would rear disc brakes even be worth the trouble? these trucks are front heavy anyway and when the brake is applied how much stopping power does the rear have with the weight transfer. Seems like a waste of time to me but I could be wrong.

If anyone would like to put disc\'s on their S-10 it can be done with 82-86 or so Camaro/Firebird parts. These are the part I used on mine.
Use a housing out of a 92 up for the 4 bolt
mounting on the backing plates. The caliper brackets off the camaro/Firebird botl directely on. Then turn the axles down to make the rotors off the same fit.
Now for the calipers I didn\'t care about an emergency brake...probably should,so I used
2 LH front calipers from an S-10/GM interminate car and notch the mounting brackets in 3 places to clear the calipers.
Slip the axles in after modifying the brakets and axles, put the rotors on,bolt the calipers on and that part is done.
For brake hose I used 2 front brake hose from...guess what...an S-10 and made a couple of small brackets that I weled to the housing. Bend lines to the tee and hook them up.
Proportioning valve is from the Camaro/Firebird also. Sounds like alot of work buts really not.
If anyone has anymore questions just private message me and I\'ll answer any questions.

I have a good bit of weight in the back of my truck so I thought the rear disks would help, I have two batteries back there the housing is a bit heavier because of the sway bar, so i figured why not??

If you are looking to do it cheap,[aren\'t we all]the reardisc from a 82 up to ??? camaro / firebird will work great and are the same size as your front s-brakes.I installed 85\'s on a 95 S10 rearend and only had to make two modifications, weld the backing plate holes up and redrill them for the 4 bolt holes on the 95 s-rear,then have the axle hubs truned down just enough to fit the camaro rotor axle hole. Any ??? leave me an message before you start swap, have a few tips.

i was looking at a rear from a late model explorer it had discs and was the same length just would have to swap spring perches from top to bottom no biggy, still might get it but for now the 7.5 is holding up just fine,

Well i swithched to a ford 9 inch rear end (shhhh dont tell anyone) lol and i also went with the wiwood pro street set up and it was a direct bolt on. I also used a corvette mastercylinder and proportioning valve.
