Is anyone running big gears with a 700r4? I have 3.08\'s now and it pulls hard. Im looking at 3.42\'s or 3.73\'s, but with the .7 4th gear ratio im thinking 4.11\'s probably wouldnt be that bad. Then it would REALLY pull. How are they on the highway? Right now I do 2400 rpm\'s at 70 because I dont have a lockup converter.

i have a 700rand 4.11\'s but i\'m switching to 3.73\'s i dont really like the 4.11\'s, for a street vehicleyour better off with 3.73\'s anyway, remember 700r\'s have the lowest ratio of any automatic tranny, it\'s 3.06 first gear 1.63, second, 1.0 third, and .7 fourth, so with that really steep first gear you dont really need it especially in a 2800lb truck, my first gear is only about 10 feet long even if i have traction so it\'s kind of stupid, but it pulls really really hard i had 3.08\'s and i actually didn;t mind them, it pulled really hard but right off the line it just wasn;t the same,3.73\'s are my reccomendation http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

i have 3.42\'s with a 700R4 and the thing has tremendous topend, but does lack some bottem power.i would run something lower like a 3.73. I\'m swapping over to a Th350 with the 3.42\'s so it should be more to my liking now.

Thanks guys, it would seem I should go 3.73. I just got a new 3000 stall converter but it is a non-lockup. Is it worth the expense to buy a different one to aid cruising?

I\'m running 4.11\'s with my 700R4 and I turn about 3500-4000 at freeway speeds. I also use a non-lockup converter. I don\'t think the extra expense is warranted to get a lockup converter unless you drive alot on the highway and then you really wouldn\'t want a lower gear anyway. It kind of depends on what you are building the Blazer for. With the Holley system you are using what do they recommend. My Comp Cam said in a 3000-3500lb vehicle in a 350 I should use a 3000 stall and 4.00+ gears.
