Hi,

I have a 31 spline Ford 9 inch that I need to narrow 6 inches. In another post someone said you can machine new splines onto a 31 spline axle. Can you buy a tool or do you have to get is custom done? If so what is the cost?

Thank You

any good rear end shop can either shorten the axles for you have them shortened. i had a 9\" shortened to fit my s10 and the shop sent my axles off the be shortened to fit, if they cant you can get custom axles to fit any application, someone also said that you cant shorten 28 spline axles because they are tapered this is not always true i have 28 spline axles that were shortened in my 9\" there was enough meat on mine to have them shortened with no problem

Look in Hot ROd or CarCraft for an add from Moser. They do it for something like $80-90 a pair.
