Glad to see the stereo section up. Let\'s kick this thing off here. Let\'s start by hearing some of your current setups? Currently (or atleast before I stripped my cab for my project) I have been running 2 JL 10\'s in a thin truck double box behind my seat (single cab). The amp was a Jensen 400 watt 2 channel. I\'m not a big fan of Jensen but this amp does nicely for what it is, and it\'s plenty powerful for what I have so far. Oh! I almost forgot the deck! I bought a Pioneer DEH46 about a year or so ago when I was setting it all up and it has done great. I think it looks cool and it\'s the factory GM fit dash size so I don\'t have to use one of those damn spacers.
Anyways I\'ll try to get some pics up soon.
Let hear/see your setups!

My stereo is mostly made up of equipment packed away in boxes and stored because I need a tonneau cover before i install it into my current truck. Even before that on my list is rear suspension so itll be a while before I can get it all installed again.
Right now all I have installed is a sony CD head with the fancy front display panel that rotates around to show the controls/buttons on the back of the panel. It\'s got seat-alignment and digital EQ features - pretty snazzy. I also have a 6 speaker MB Quart component set. Oh yeah, and a 10disc changer.
The rest of it sitting in boxes are 2 soundstream rubicon 700w amps for powering 4 soundstream rubicon 10\" subs and a 500w rubicon amp to run the components. I also have two 1 farad capacitors, Street Wires cables, optima battery, and a molded painted fiberglass amp rack.
I\'m planning on installing the subs in a slot-loaded box (subs facing down) behind the cab with a blow-through. With the amps in the rack against the tailgate (tailgate is getting molded shut).
I have pics of the amps installed in the rack and my old sub set-up from my old truck. I\'ll post em as soon as i get a chance.

Awesome, that sounds like the type of setup I will be moving towards. My #1 concern of course is the function of my truck mechanically right now, much like yours but it can\'t keep me from planning ahead.
Anyways I am looking into the future of getting a nice fiberglass tonneau to seal off the bed which will be lined with carpet. After that I will be shoving a lot of stuff under there, the individual components I have not decided on yet but I am interested int he blow-by box setup you mentioned.
I have seen the blow-by box setup a few times before and I\'m windering about the actual installation of it. It doesn\'t seem too hard but I guess my questions are:
Exactly what material is used to go between the cab and bed... like a rubber type tube or what? Isn\'t frame flex a concern for these pieces connecting two independent parts?
And how difficult is it really? I would be a little nervous cutting some holes in my cab and bed but it doesn\'t look too dangerous...

It\'s really not hard at all. I made a walk-thru in my last truck (fiberglass camper shell on bed and cut out rear cab wall and window) so it was like a blazer with no windows or seats (i made a custom love seat in front of the system) Anyway some of the companies that make the shells sell flexible rubber weather seal that kind of clips on to the edges of the bed and the cab. If you haven\'t ever seen it its kinda hard to explain. it works great though, mine never leaked and it was a daily driver. Cutting the holes is easy. The way I\'m doing it is against the back of the cab there are three square indentations on 1st gen s10s. I\'m just gonna cut out the lower half of those three indentations and seal it off. The box is gonna be slot-loaded (the subs facing down about 6-8\" from the floor). The bottom of the box will be at the same level as the top of the holes (the box will be upside down on little feet) so the bass will kinda bounce off the floor and turn 90 degrees into the holes to the cab. The other side of the box towards the tail gate will be sealed of so the sound kinda gets forced throught the holes into the cab. That\'s the plan anyway.
You can also do it so the subs point right into a big hole going iinto the cab but you have to cut out more material that way (i want to keep that area as strong as i can) and i think slot-loaded boxes sound REALLY clean and tight.
Whoa, that was a long post... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

My set-up was kind of ghetto before i started teh project. I have a jensen head (bought it when i first got the truck and didn\'t know any better) I\'ve got a 600 watt kenwood amp and in the passenger seat i have a sealed box with 2 MTX thunder 4000 twelves. The box was huge it took up all the space in the cab I had a 1 person truck but i blew all of my friends systems awayhttp://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

basically, 2 18\" rockford hx2\'s yes i said 18\"... two bd1000a1\'s 0 guage wire, optima red top, i had a dual altornator setup on my 2.8, the only thing i still have is my pioneer dehp-720, the one with the dolphin organic display, i still have the battery, i have my pioneer preimeir component set in some q forms, running off of the deck power, i have the mid bass drivers crossed over ont he rear channel of the deck running them as subs, then on the front channel i have the tweeters and my infinity kappa 4x6 plates up in the dash, it sounds awesome for not having any subs right now, it\'s all really high end stuff though, but i miss the 2 18\" subs i still have one of the bd1000\'s and a bd500... i might be interested in selling the bd500 if somone is interested, with my entire system i used to hit 158db all day long, it was crazy loud i had 6 cubic foot boxes build for each sub i had to have my seats moved al the way forward, and the sub box took up the whole extended part of my cab, but boy was it worth it, my futur plans include a tri tuned bandpass desighned by alma gates (i also have one of those boxes for sale too i have two of them) with 2 10\" mtx thunder 8000\'s i\'m gunna run them off of the one bd1000... the box is huge and will be mounted in the bed of my truck, i\'m just gunna use sleeper rubber between the cab and the bed, it should be crazy loud, hopefully mid 140\'s (not as loud as before but i will also only have 10\'s instead of 18\'s) the 158 was pointless anyway, the only thign it was cool for was trying to make people puke, i did it a couple times, if you play a 6hz tone at 140 + db it will make the human body resonate and you will puke, crap your pants and pass out..... at 160 you go deaf instantly, at 150 your ears bleed at 140 is the thresh hold of pain when it starts to hurt, so it was pretty crazy loud, a fe people insisted that i let them sit in it with it cranked i told them that their ears would bleed but nooooo they didn\'t beleive me... untill it happened... ha ha , good times, i never lost a db drag with that system, the only time i came close i was hitting 156 something on a really hot day and the guy beside me was hitting 154, i have pictures of his civic he had 6 15\" rockford power dvc\'s, and 3 bd1000\'s if he would ahve had more power he would have cleaned me honostly i was expecting him to hit 160\'s... anyway enough of the story\'s

It doesn\'t matter what kind of music you listen to, all music sounds better with a nice setup. And I mean ALL and ANY music.

I don\'t have anything in my S-10 yet, but in my fullsize Tahoe I have 3 Audiobahn 15\" aluminum subs, Fusion components, Pioneer 9300 head unit and 2 4000 watt Ma audio amps, yes I said 4000 watt. The subs are slot-loaded and they sound great, I have no idea what it will hit yet because I haven\'t had a chance to put it in a drag yet.

I\'m just saying that I don\'t need to have 2 15\'s to get my truck cab to rattle with my superlow bass cd or anything like that. Yo!
My system sounds superb for the kind of music I listen to (Deftones. Incubus, Glassjaw, Catalyst Theory). It\'s got just enough lows, mids, & highs to equalize everything perfectly.

When I ever get my s15 done I\'m not planning for anything too fancy, so here are my ideas. An alpine cd head unit, pioneer 4x6s for the dash, a decent sized kicker amp and kicker full range truck boxes w/10s behind the seats. Like I said, nothing fancy, but plenty to get the job done. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah, i like a nice system, but i never really had one until recently. Im running the 1.5 DIN Pioneer 4700, with legacy 3-way 4x6 and legacy 4-way 4x10, along with a crossfire 300 watt amp powering a Jl W3 D4 in a 1\" sealed box. Its great, it sounds great for all around sound, but can bump soo loud it shakes the lights and signs at the 7/11 (real experience). Its great.

currently running pioneer 2 way 4x6es in the front, pioneer 3 way 6x9s in the back, a 52x4 pioneer head unit, 2 mtx 6000 10\" powered by a 750 watt mtx amp and a 1 farad capacitor. needed to go with a 120 amp alternator to power it b/c at night with the stereo up it would draw so much power off the electrical system every light in the truck would flash. thus far the farthest away my stereo has been heard was almost a mile. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
