Transmission T350

Will a T350 from a 79 firbird work with my s-10 350 from a 78 Truck? I don\'t want to modofy my drive shaft (88 s-10, 2wd) Thanks.

first we need to know if your s10 is a long bed or a short bed.a long bed you will have to move the crossmember an inch or so,but either way if your going through all the trouble of installing a smallblock in a s10 whats the big deal about haveing to have a drivshaft modified,its really not that expensive.that trans will work just fine,80%of the s10v8\'s out there are useing that trans.good luck!!

I have a short bed S-10. I have heard that the tail peice on the T350 can be different? I heard that a 9\" tail piece is recommended?

mine was out of a fulsize truck and fit perfect no crossmember mods or drive shaft mods it was the longer tailshaft trans

Theres\' 3 different tailshafts that came with the TH350 transmissions for 2wd\'s. Most trucks had the 9\". I was originally using that tranny in my blazer, and only had to elongate the mounting hole in the crossmember for the tranny mount.
