I have also been contemplating puting the nv4500 in my s10. currently I have a 350 turbo. But I love to drive stick so much I thought it would be a good prodject. I was wondering if this was the easiest manual install to do. I wanted a six speed but everyone told me that is to difficult. Also is there anyway to beef one up more. I read that they are rated at like 312 ft/lbs but I want to be safe. Is there a manual that is just as easy to install but stronger. Also how much does a nv4500 go for new and used. thanks

Which is the 4500? I believe the NV 3500 is the factory one thats in the s-series. They bolt in with no mods. It is the same size as a 700R4, and the tranny crossmember is in the same spot. This would be the easiest manual to install in a s-series, at least in my opinion. You\'ll need all new pedals from a manual truck. All of them(I think all are different. At least you\'ll need the clutch pedal and brake pedal) Get the hydraulic line from a dealership. That botls right in too. Its even pre-bled. If you\'ve got he extra cash, get a Hurst short throw shifter for it too. Made an amazing difference over the stocker. I went from the TH350 to a NV 5 speed, and I was very happy with it.

Kory! The 4500 is a 1 Ton Application Tranny with 1st being granny gear and 5th being overdrive. They are sorta costly. Try about $1900 new and then tack on a core of around $400. I can\'t see why you would need granny gear. But you can go to Standard Transmission (http://www.standardtransmission.com) http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif
