Will I absolutely have to change the front shocks and springs in the S-10 before I drive it after I put the smallblock in it? My truck is an 87 that had a 4 cyl. And exactly how much does a complete smallblock with cast iron heads weigh?

Other than that, I finally got around to pulling my 350 out of the Silverado (the one that\'s going in the S-10) yesterday. I dropped the oil pan, it\'s a 2 bolt main, and I pulled the heads off of it already. There is about no ridge on the cylinder walls. Everything in that motor is so clean and new looking that it must have been either a real low mileage motor, or it must have been recently overhauled. The S-10 should be getting roll backed over to the garage some time in the next week or so.

You don\'t have to, but it wouldn\'t be a good idea to keep them.

I still have my stock front suspension, but I just bought belltech drop spindles 2 inch springs and nitro shocks. and it is alright to keep stock suspension for a little bit but like Koerbs says don\'t keep the same springs and shocks if you do not have to.

I have V-6 springs in mine and cut a coil to get it down. If you use dropped springs or cut a coil like I did you will also have to use shorter shocks.

i replaced my shocks for a better ride but i used the old springs it was a 2.5 and lowered it about 2.5 inches remember shocks dont give height just help absorb bumps

same as mike i\'ve got 2.8 springs, but i cut a coil out to lower it down, after cutting the coil and putting the v8 in it dropped it about 3 inches, and it handles like a dream...

Shorter shocks are so that they don\'t bottom out in the bumps. Cut the bump stop also.
