Give us some more info Fart Knocker.
What is your cooling setup, rad, fan etc.
Is your fan a pusher or puller, rad size and type?
The more we know the more we can all help you.
Is it running hotter in traffic or moving?

i\'m not really sure how your shroud was made, but they should create a wind tunnel effect, the shroud should cover the overall length of the radiator and close around the fan, that way the fan creates a suction affect and actually pulls the air through the radiator. I made one for my truck and it cooled it about 20 degrees from what it ran before. if you take a look at a stock one you will see how they start out wide as the radiator and get small around the fan.

I would have to agree with bohn. If the shroud was made to just block off the radiator and to pull in air it may not have been made correctly. Also you say your motor is 60 over block? This is going normally be an engine that runs a little warmer than a standard bore or 30 over block. Is you engine a fresh motor or is it an older motor? If it\'s a fresh engine the piston\'s might be set \"tight\" and will cause it to run warm. Running pure water I\'ve heard does actually tend to cool better, but you might want to run some Water Wetter in it or a small amount of coolant ti lube the water pump seals. Is the stock 4.3L radiator a used one or new one? This might be another place to look for over heating troubles.
I hope I gave you some ideas that help.

Is the fan completely enclosed by the shroud? This could cause some turbulence...the fan is supposed to be only half covered by the shroud...shroud should cover the entire rad and taper to fan diameter as stated by bohn. I have seen the stock 2.8 shrouds cut down and used with success.

Sounds to me that the key point here is that it ran hotter AFTER the shroud was installed; therefore, the problem is shroud-related. It may behoove you to position the fan at a different location into the shroud opening. Or it may be that the shroud is just designed wrong for this application and causes more harm than good. Good luck.

If it runs hotter with the shroud take it off. If it didn\'t run hot before why did you decide to get a shroud? (just curious)
It is just a myth about a .060 block running hotter. I have always heard the same thing but i talked with some very well known machinest (at least in my area of the world) and they dispelled that myth. I trust what they say and I guess i will see.
