I took out my ecm and am trying to figure out how to still run my stock in tank electric fuel pump. Before i ran the brown and white wire from the oil pressure sending unit directly to the fuse box, but i notice now that half of that wire runs to the ecm. Is there a way that i can run still get power to the fuel pump with out the ecm?

Thier should be a relay on the drivers side fender. mine had it! factory, all ya have to do is find the one wire that needs the power to trigger the relay. i can\'t remember the colour thou. thats the only wire ya have to deal with, i just ran mine to the ignition wire, but when i pull out my truck again in the spring i gonna get the proper set up so only triggers it when it sences the oil pressure.. hope that helped a bit/

the wire that runs the fuel pump is a grey wire you may have to ground the pump too depending on what you did to the harness.

if you want the oil pressure switch to run the pump and its a three wire switch (white/brown/grey) you need to apply power to the white wire so that when the switch activates it sends power to the grey wire to run the pump.

now if you want the pump to prime up when your turning the engine over simply connect that blank wire from the ecm to a relay and then from the relay to a power source then run the relays ground and the relay driver line to the starter ign wire were the ignition signal comes from the cab and while you crank it the pump will feed when you stop it will stop this is only if your using the oil pressure sender switch because the pump will shut off when you stop cranking unless there is oil pressure ie engine going.

Hope this helps.

not all trucks had the relay if yours has the relay just power feed for the relay like I stated in my previous post.

ok..i\'m not an electrical guru..i personally hate wiring, is it real hard to just remove the intank pump and go with a mechanical one. I have heard that you can replace the intank pump with a peice of tubing or something, how hard is this to do? I already have the bed off, so access to the pump is easy.

if your running a carb leave the intank were it is and just hook the mechanical upto your fuel line and cap off the return line you can use the inline filter to keep your gas clean and the sifter on the pump will keep garbage from clogging your lines from the fuel tank. This worked well for my friends truck hes running a carbed 402 in it.

so i can leave the pump in there and it will still pull the fuel fine? Don\'t i need a return line on the mechanical pump? i thought there was two fitting on a mechanical pump.

bohn It depends on the pump if it has a return line use it if not cap it off.

bigfoot your welcome if you have an older block get a 4.3 Vortec oil pressure sensor say a 96 and up it will work best and last longer.

yes a mech pump will suck through the electric pump i found this out when i had the lines removed front the front of the frame and had the rear only of the truck on jack stands lol my garage stunk after a while it leakes out, if you want you can just rewire it to a ign. hot power spot at the fuseblock pull the power feed wire from the pump and run it into the cab good luck
