i have a 85 s10 with a 65 327.it has the factory gears which are a 3.42 ratio.i took it to a track and ran a 16 with it but i spun about 300 ft off the line.could someone tell me what a good gear would be to help me stop this.

what size tires are you running?
you could go with 3.73 but your tires will spin faster but not as far down the track...
i would say put on a pair of slicks.. that is if you aren\'t already....

well dude, sounds like a problem....slicks are ur best bet, other than that, you can find alot of suspension upgrades in summit and in jegs...traction bars...both of them would help alot and some extra weight in the rear....

If you run slicks you will probably have to install a drive shaft hoop to be legal at the strip. I\'m running 4.10 gears with a 700R4 and BFG\'s. I spin some, but if I play with my launch RPM I can minimize it. Try BFG or Nitto drag radials they are good without the need for a drive shaft hoop. Although installing one is good insurance from having a driveshaft break and F*** up your ride and maybe getting killed.

A loop is always a good idea. I think you have to have one if you run under 13. Try a set of 275/50/15 BFG drag radials. You didn\'t specify if you had posi or not. Posi will help. I wouldn\'t run under your current gears if you wann drag race your truck. Id step to some 3.73\'s or 4.10\'s, depending on your tranny. Not mashing the gas pedal out of the hole will help too. BTW, do you still have your time slips? What were your 60 ft times?
