I\'d suggest just using the stock TC. You only need a high stall if you have a big lopey cam and/or high rear end gears. A high stall will only make it harder for you to launch your truck without turning your tires into a molten mess of rubber. With LT1 and 3.42 rear end gears your gonna be smoking them all the way to 3rd gear as it is. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
I think mine is a 2000 stall, the only reason I didn\'t use a stock one because a friend of mine had a stock one on his s10 with a 327 and at stop lights he would have to put it in neutral. I haven\'t had it to the track or even ever reved it up on a launch to see how it works over a stock one. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

The reason I ask is, my brother bough at 02 ram air trans am, we put a 3800 stall converter in it and it went from running a best of 8:30\'s in an 1/8 to 7:80\'s

i have seen advertised torque coverted that say they will put a newwer f-body i think in the 13s with basicly no other mods. i\'m guessing the factory has to be use a converter to make everyone happy even if an old lady were to drive it so i\'m sure a higher conveter could help - normally a higher stall is NEEDED with a larger cam so you can take off in the rpm range of the cam so it may help in your truck maybe check with a manufacture of the converter see what they recomend also
ps how about some pics of the truck ????

yes a converter of that size will make that big of a difference. My buddies 2002 camaro has the vig. 3600 stall on it and runs 13.02@104.4.(3600elev.) the only other mods are a ported mass air and a lid. which are pertty much standard mods that everyone does.
The converter really helps alot. Mine is a non-lock up race converter(which is a pain on the street) And it will stall anywhere from 3200-3900 depending on the surface that im stalling it on. But i would recomend a 3000 stall at least on the lt1 with a hotcam. Make sure its a lockup style though. And for gods sakes dont use the stock converter. They are not worth a crap on anything you are going to wanna race. If you are never going to race it then go ahead. And about turning your tires into molten rubber. Like he said your going to do that anyway, so why not get a good converter and some good tires(at least drag radials) and then you will be all set to race if you want. and with a lockup style converter it is just like the stock converter until you get on it, then it\'ll unlock and you\'ll be haulin .

The other thing you want to consider is what RPM is your motor turning at highway speed. If you are cruising at 65 and your engine is turning at 3000 rpm then a 3600 stall would be bad. You want to make sure that your TC is locked while cruising, otherwise it will send your tranny temp to the moon.
Is this a street truck, daily driver or weekend warrior?

I have a 3500 rpm stall in my truck and it cruises at around 3000 rpm and I have never had heat problems with the trans.

That is why you have to get a lockup style for a street vehicle....my converter WILL NOT lock up........Its a race converter, but it still does \"ok\" on the highway.
