Solid Roller? what lift? Sure it\'s not a hydraulic roller? I dont think you can run the stock spring with a solid unless its a low lift....under .500 but im not sure
But the spring change on the votec head the spring height is differnt too. So a different spring would be needed

I dont\' believe that you can run over a .450 lift cam(not positive on the number) unless you have the heads machined.
yes I am sure I have a solid roller cam and lifters bought them used so I dont know the lift or duration it seems to rev to 6k pretty easy I am also running a set of proform roller rockers half 1.5 half 1.6.

Half 1.5 and half 1.6???????? Never heard of that being done. Are you running like the 1.6\'s on the intake and the 1.5\'s on the exhaust? That one has got me stumped buddy. Now i really dont know what to tell ya. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif
The proform roller rockers come with 8 1.5s and 8 1.6s I am running the 1.6s on the exaust side

I\'ve heard of people doing that. Running half 1.5 and half 1.6, don\'t really know the advantage. I thought about doing that also. If anyone nows the advantage let me know...i\'m curious. And i believe vortecs won\'t hold a lift higher than 475. Scoggin dickey is big with vortec stuff. www.sdpc2000.com

Why would you buy a used cam when you didn\'t know anything about it?

Why would I buy a used cam? because I got the solid roller cam and lifters for $200 back to my question why do you have to change the springs in the vortec heads??? I am running fine on my stock springs in my 194 heads

Because stock Vortec heads don\'t allow very much lift. You will have the locks and retainers ramming into the valve guides. You\'ll need to get them machined for more lift and while you are at it might as well machine the seats to a larger diameter for heavier springs. Scoggin-Dickie has them already machined and assembled for higher lift cams.

I have Vortecs, and I changed the springs. I have a comp roller, 480 488 lift. You will need to change the springs over stock. With more lift than that, you will need the spring pocket machined, and the top of the valve guide.
