Hi Bacon, Your manifold will not fit,but your TBI unit will. However you will need to change your injectors to a v8. The flow rate is not the same, you will be to lean (Bad news lean melts pistons).ECM will be the same but you will need a 305,350 prom with same options as your S10. Almost all other sensors and parts willfit and work. (DYNLUB) http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

Hi Bacon,Your best bet is to get a complete TBI unit off a V8 engine. Check auto salvage yards.Maybe EBAY,or look on this site. A PROM is the controler inside your computer,it can be changed.Try to get a chevy parts man to help you select the proper one. (DYNLUB)

Hi BACON, Those parts you will need maybe FASRNUR can help you with (DYNLUB) http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

Is the prom the chip?

prom - programable rom its the hard written memory that containes spark curves and other info for the engine to run correctly its kind of like a cd or floppy disjk in a ense but cannot be easily changed and will never wear out from use.

if you want to use the 4.3 setup you need the v8 fuel injectors and distributor, and prom. everything else is plug and play. oh you also need a v8 tbi manifold.

you will also need a knock sensor for a 350/305

This sounds like a good idea i should try it myself. do you guys think it will be really hard to get it running right? and what distributer could i use, or would a standerd hei work.

Will the prom and calpack from a 1227747 (4.3L, 5.0L, and 5.7L amoung others probably) computer work right in a 1228062 (2.8L and 4.3L) computer. I have three proms for a 305, but the computer i have doesn\'t seem to work properly or at least i don;t think so. The v6 computer and v6 prom seem to run my engine better than the v8 computer and the v8 prom.

Maybe the v6 computer and the v8 prom will work better yet.

Does anybody know for sure.

the way it\'s supposed to work and can work just fine is keeping the stock 4.3 puter, and tbi unit. pull a 350 prom or have Tbichips.com make you one. swap out the injectors in the 4.3 tbi unit to one\'s that are for the 350. same with the chips. it should run just fine like stock.

After going down this exact same road with my swap heres what I did. I got mine running with the 8062 computer and prom for the 4.3 but it was not right after some research I ended up using 7747 computer with a 350 prom. Make sure you get 350 injectors the #on the injector itself ends with 206. I would not use anything from a 305 prom or injectors. The injectors for a 305 flow 30#, the 4.3 flow 40# the 350 flow 50#. The 4.3 injectors will work fine, they won\'t lean the engine out until about 4000 rpm. There is also an air conditioning issue when you switch from the 8062 comp. to the 7747 comp.

i posted this so long ago it is funny to look at it now. I ended up using the tbi unit from the 4.3 because it is the exact same part number as the one for a 305 i didnt get a chance to change my injectors yet i have a set geting redone as i speek as for the computer sorry i did use one out of a 305 it surves its purpose well. your right with the lean being a problem around 4k when you drive it feels like you have amazing toucqe but no ponys after that. i was contemplating though would it make a dif if i put the 4.3 comp back in and change the prom to the 305 or leave it at the whole 305 comp????

4.3 and 350 knock sensors are different. I think it has to do with where they are mounted on each engine. Also harmonics between a V6 and a V8 are different. Physically they look identical.

BTW my Blazer \"fast passed\" the emissions test here in SE Wisconsin. It was only on the rollers for about 20 seconds. 2yaers before it needs to go again, time to play.

quick question when i have the 305 computer in my truck it runs shitty but with the 4.3 computer withthe 305 prom chip it works awsum except for mileage is like 7 to the gallon and my check engine lite is blinking like a strobe like 1000 times per minute im talking fast and when i check the comp it says it is a code 51 (prom chip or mem cal) but it doesnt do it when its the whole 305 comp. any help? also will the nock sensor make that big of a dif with the 305 comp? to make it run shitty as hell?

like where i have the timeing set with the 4.3 comp and v8 prom it runs and starts great but with the whole v8 comp it cant even start unless i change the timeing and it still runs like shit.

You will find that if you look up the replacement part numbers, most 4.3\'s and most 350\'s are the same number. The 305 is different. Probably because the 4.3 and the 350 have the same bore and stroke which results in the sound frequency range of any knocks being the same.

Take a look: <a href="http://www.tomco-inc.com/Catalog/32knock%20sensors.pdf" target="_blank" target="_new">http://www.tomco-inc.com/Catalog/32knock%20sensors.pdf</a>.

I know a guy who is running the exact setup (4.3 tbi). All he had to do was get a compatable HEI distributor and an aftermarket PROM programed for the swap. He has put almost 15K on the truck with no ping, etc. He is using the 4.3 injectors. Now his engine is stock so it is not missing the extra fuel but yes the 4.3 and 5.0 and 5.7 injectors are different. Oh yeah, in case you are just starting out in the mechanic field, in which you don\'t want to tackle such a job just starting out, the intake manifolds are different to.
