im sure that a soild cam makes more power....but has any one went from a hydralic cam to a soild cam of the same lift ...and how much et did them pick up....and if it was worth the extra tuning ...

From what I understand, the biggest benefit of a solid lifter over a hydraulic is that you can spin the motor faster without seeing valve float. Then you can run a cam with a higher powerband to keep those rpms up. I don\'t think solids really make THAT much more power than a hydraulic. The benefit is the high rpms. If you\'ll be seeing more track time than street time the solid might be the way to go.

I don\'t think setting valve lash is as much of a pain as people make it out to be. I know I don\'t really mind doing it. Only takes as long as changing your oil and you only have to do it every 1500-2000 miles or so with good poly-locks.

My best analogy is it’s like the difference between an automatic trans and a manual trans. You kind of have a sponge effect with Hydraulic and a more positive feel for a mechanical Plus no floating of the valves. You need to use the right springs screw in studs and guide plates also.
