What it the safest way to lower the rear of an 85 S10 with out lower blocks. This is running in the Strip and I have already ripped blocks out of the Truck once. I still have the stock springs installed and really don\'t want to put a full tube chassis or back half in it. Already running ladder bars on the stock frame just want to lower it about 4 \". I\'m running a 550Hp 406 11.37 1/4 ET\'s

Buy some drop leafs from belltech or get them de arched, that is what I did, you can also get shackles. With that much horsepower you should be lookin at a four link setup.

A 4-link would be your best bet, i\'ve already seen drop leafs fold up under hard acceleration. How did you rip the blocks out?

One of the easyest ways would be to put in a RoadGreater System. It comes with basicly the whole rear end with a triangular link setup with bags and shocks. You have to cut a few things too but there is also no welding required. Check it out here http://www.ridetech.com/productinfo/roadgrater.asp
I know where you are coming from. My truck is much like yours, with maybe a little more hp. I have always had a problem with traction. Those cheap aluminum lowering blocks will crumble under load. I had to replace them with solid steel blocks, this is a home made item. I also bought 5/8 inch hardened steel shackel bolts. A set of slide-a-link traction bars were installed. Drag shocks front and rear and drag springs up front help. An alignment just for drag racing also helps.I run in the mid 10s and a friend of mine with the same setup running on juce is running in the nines. It minght pay to make some small cheap improvements. Maybe you could get to where you want to go cheaper and easyer than with a 4 link.

best thing to do is loose the leafs and put on coil-overs since you have ladder bars already.also you can put coil springs from a car under the bed (build a crossmember), and you can cut the coils to whatever height you want.this is how mine was before the coil-overs , and it had 1.35sixty foot times.
