first of all, i know i don\'t have a v8, but i can\'t find a site for s-10\'s that have done a 3.4 swap, if anyone knows of one, feel free to tell me. anyways, i was wondering if anyone thinks i have a chance on the face of this earth of beating a 4.3 s-10 with headers. i think it\'s around 1999 or 2000. we both have manual transmissions. i have a 3.4 out of a \'95 camaro, took off the fuel injection and put on 4barrel intake with 500cfm carb. i\'m not sure what my quarter mile time is, prolly around 16 or 17 i\'m hoping, i get about 85mph on a good day. anyone think i have a chance of winning?

well...the camaro\'s were pretty quick for a full size car with a v-6...im thinking they made 200 horse from the factory with the injection....a s10 weighs less than a camaro....the 4.3 ho s-10 is quick for a truck ...but you did\'t say weathere his is a regular 4.3 which is like 165 horse and the h.0 is 215 or 225 horse....if it\'s a regular 4.3 than i would be willing to put money on your own truck...if it\'s the h.o 4.3 i would be careful were i put my money...but hey that\'s nothing that a 125 shot of nos would\'t fix....lol...

i don\'t know which engine it is. one of my friends knows the guy and said he\'d get a hold of me when he was here. my friend thinks it\'ll be a really close race. he has a dodge dakota that he said could probably beat it and one night from about 25mph to 55mph i was dead even with his dodge......so i don\'t know, i\'ll let u guys know how bad i get beat http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

It should be very close. One quick correction though, the Camaro V6 that made th emost power was the 3.8 which was 200 in the newer (\'98-up I think), the 3.4 was rated at either 160 or 170hp.
The 3.4\'s were lively engines and in a lighter truck they should move pretty well. The only thing is that the 4.3 may have more torque down low and get you off the line, but the 3.4 is overall more refined and probably has more top end pull.
Anyways it will definately be a close race, let us know how it turns out

the 3.4 is suppose to have 160hp and 200ft/lb of torque stock. i have plenty of torque with my 4.10 gears, thats one thing i have problems with when i race is i spin out way too easy. i need some tires that hook up, but that costs money http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif maybe i\'ll video tape the race and put it on here

a stock 3.4 is only 160hp and a almost all newer 4.3 are 195hp. The older ones are 160hp. I would put my money on the 4.3...sorry, but just race him for the hell of it and if you loose....who cares. I\'ve seen many stock 4.3 S10\'s run high 15\'s so beware.

Its a 4x4 site but a lot of them do the 3.4 swap.
