Can anyone tell me if a body lift off of a newer S10 (say 95-97) would work on the older style (\'84) ? I\'m looking to get some cheap and I\'m not finding any for my specific application but if I could substitue some from a different year body style or even a different truck altogether then I\'d be happy.
So anyways if anyone has experience or knows if there are other applications that will work. And being an extended cab does it make any difference? I haven\'t checked to see if it has more mounts than the std cab. Thanks!
Oh and if it\'s for a blazer does it make a difference?

should be the same both cabs have 6 mount points and the bed has 6 mount points.
if your looking for real cheap just buy longer bolts and drill out some hockey pucks a tride and true cheap method that lots of people have used over the years lol just dont go higher then three pucks or you can run into some minor issues.

In that case do you think a body lift from another truck that includes 12 blocks (6 for body, 6 for bed like you said) like say from a Toyota (if they have 12) would work as well? What really sets the body lifts apart besides the number of blocks? I figure if there\'s the right number of them and the bolts can go through them then there isn\'t really anything technical about a body lift to make a difference. Atleast That\'s what I\'d like to think.

I just got done putting a body lift on a friends 89 S-10 Blazer. I used 2\" dia. pipe cut in 3\" sections. I used 1/2\" threaded rod and welded nuts on one end for bolts. Had to tap threads on nuts on body for threaded rod, because nuts on body are metric. With me doing all labor, it only cost like $25-30. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Is this a 2wd or 4wd? Are you looking for a body or supsension lift? How high are you wanting to go?

It\'s a 4wd, and as stated in topic im talking about a body lift. as far as height it doesnt really matter because thats not the issue but most likely 3 inches, possibly 2

well im running to hockey puck that are drill out. and they have been just great. it been about 7 or 8n years since they went and now its getting to the time to change them. they dont last for ever.
just make sure you drill the holes in exactly the same place on the pucks if you can use a drill press. you dont want one puck to be slightly off of the one under it.

I just got finished putting on a 3 inch lift kit from a 85 nissan. It had extra blocks in it and hardware but i bought it on ebay for only 15$ so i figured i could use it.
I had one problem, 3 bolts were rusted in so well that when i went to twist em off they broke off. I tried heat and even penetrating pb blaster. So now i have 3 bolts hangin out that have to be cut out of the lower body supports then re welded in.. IT sucked and i will never do a body lift again..
I did have the problem that my linkage wont reach the shifter to the tranny now. (automatic) i figured i will have to stretch it out some and straighten it. I dont know yet.. To fix the ugly lifted look since i didnt have bumper relocators, i am going to use diamond plate (again) and make some cool looking plating and coverings.
ANYONE have an answer to my problems let me know i been pondering them for a while.
Good luck, i even used pvc pipe and hammered 4 of them into one another steppign one size smaller each piece. we lifted a old jeep 3 inches with that for about 7$ then we put in brass piping as a bushing and it fit snug and perfect, just use some rubber washers where the body mounts touch the metal or they will squeek ya to death.

Here is some help ardusatomus on the trans linkage not long enough. Take the linkage out and weld a 4\" long piece of 3/8\" round stell on the end. Grind the weld down and install. This gives you plenty of lenght. It\'s alot easier than trying to rebend the linkage. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif

I just got done putting a body lift on a friends 89 S-10 Blazer. I used 2\" dia. pipe cut in 3\" sections only problem with that method is they might slide alittle... and the body might start to lean or you might loose the bolts if they get loose... been there, done that... lol
