Hey guys. Well, ive been thinkin really hard about this, so let me know what you think. I am considering an AWD conversion. To do this, i think you could take a 4x4 s-10 frame(for me extended cab short box) and put it under my truck. Then, find the transfer case, front differential, and driveline off of a Olds bravada. Couldnt you do that??? What would you need to hook up the AWD. the AWD transfer case is operated by vacuum right, so if you get the AWD setup off of a bravada(diff, transfer case, driveline, and any other parts you may need) and you should be able to bolt most of it up with minimal trouble right?? Well, tell me wat you think, because i had the blazer this winter, i will be on my own next winter, and in wyoming, and my truck wont go in snow, so i think this AWD setup could really help. Let me know. Oh yeah, one last question, i heard there was electronics that control the AWD, like put power to the wheel thats not slipping??? Well, let me know. Thanks.

I have also thought about the same thing. I don\'t see why a person couldn\'t do this. The Syclones and Typhoons were about the same thing with a 4.3L in them. I have seen a small block put into a Bravada so it must be able to be done. The S-10 Blazers and Bravada\'s have the same frame so it should work. Another transfer case that would work is the Astro AWD.

Go for it and let us know how it works.

Yes, it can be done. I\'ve seen an AWD v8 before. The 1st gen bravada is essentially just like a Sy/Ty, less the turbo.

There shouldn\'t be any vac* activation, since its on all the time. You\'ll need the front axle assemble also. The AWD stuff is very different from the 4x4 stuff. Even the torsion bars are different.

i considered doing the same thing, i would just find a bravada and use the complete frame and suspension off of that..the frame can be lengthen or shortend to fit what ever truck platform you want to use. I have already seen many syclones with small blocks in them so the conversion is not hard, i have also considered useing a astro awd set-up..same basic thing but i think an astro has a wider wheel stance...somebody correct me if i\'m wrong. I Think the hardest part would be to lower a awd setup so it doesn\'t sit so high like a bravada does...maybe somebody makes lowering kits so they don\'t look so stupid.

well i do know u can crank the torsion bars to make them higher i just wonder if u can unwind them to get a lower effect, other than that i know drops for the newer 2wd tahoe have a bracket the move the torsion bar from goin straight into the LCA to just below it to it drops it that much more, but i dunno im sure out of 1 zillion sites on the net one has somthin to do with it.

i have seen 4x4 s-10 lowering kits, they are different keys or something, and you could always crank them down for the slammed look. I myself have a 4x4 blazer, which i cranked up, got a good 2.5 inches outta the front, so you should be able to go down some. I think i need to find a wrecked brovada, and then like blown engine(lol, i wish). I just need the transfer case, driveshaft, torsion bars, upper and lower control arms, differentail, some mounting brackets, cv axles maybe, and then swap all that on my frame. I am really planin on starting building up the frame and the moment.
