ok I know this has been worn out but here is my question. I have a 4.3 radiator and A/C I have the stock 4.3 waterpump on my all iron small block that is rated at 350 hp and 400 tq. I have 2 electric pushers on the outside of the condenser and it has a 160 stat. the truck can stay around 190 on the road in the semi heat but with the A/C onit will go over 210 pretty fast and creep to 230 if I drive it to long. what im thinking about doing it moving the a/c condenser to the forward position and putting my fans right against the backside of the radiator (between the condenser and radiator) what I want to know is will this be nay better or should I buy a new radiator? I am looking at the bee cool s-10 radiator and the vette unit. give me advise! I want to have it cool and run the A/C. p.s. im in the texas heat! what cooling combo kicks ass and wont cost me an arm and a leg!

I have used both the vette, and my stock 4.3 radiator. With nothing else changed, the 4.3 radiator cooled better than the vette. I was pretty pissed when I wasted the money on my vette one.
Puller fans will cool better than pusher fans. When your driving, the fans are blocking a good deal of air from getting to the radiator. With them on the inside, max air is getting to the front of the radiator, and the fans are pulling it through.

a good rad to use is one from an 89 camaro iroc. it take some fabrication work to get it to fit. thats what i have right now.from the factory the irocs came with 2 electric fans and im only using 1 right now with out any problems. im also using a 192 thermostate. some days i dont even turn on my fan!
mind you i dont have ac but im sure it ould still work.

Like BADBOWTIE I use a Camaro 3 row rad. I also use a engine drive fan and don\'t have a bit of problems. It get 90+ here in Minnesota and mine will run 180 all day long. 190-200 in traffic. I too had to do a little modification to make it fit. Look at my pics and you\'ll see how it fits.
Hope this helps,
Jeff....

my problem is the way my engine is I cant put a engine driven fan on it no matter how much space I have there. and I dont have enough room for pullers. I wish I did, but I dont. I am looking at a couple of big ass aluminum units locally. enyone ever think to run the radiator into the bed and put fans on it there? by the way ZZ4 blazer I was once one of those kids that went into a forum somewhere and asked what it takes to put a small block into a s10 and you responded and told me what i needed to hear im sure you thought I was just another kid with a pipe dream, If I remember correctly I got started about a week later. not all form just you but you got me started in the right direction.

Why is it that you can\'t put a fan of any sort in front of your motor? What kind of mounts did you use and how is your motor set in the truck?
There are a lot of 4x4 guys that put the radiator in the back. For the street if done right it might work. Give it a try and let us know.

Aww, come on man. Your making it sound like Im some old guy, lol. I\'ve made plenty of mistakes with my v8 swap, I just try to help other guys out so they don\'t make the same ones.

Get the JTR book. It has a 30 page chapter on cooling, which shows how to make the swap run cool with the inexpensive Corvette radiator.

I cant have an engine driven fan because of the motor I have... I have a GMPP RamJet350 and the way that the intake tube comes out of the throttle body it is to close to the waterpump and it would have to be like a 8 or 10 inch fan at the most. and that wont cut it. I have just enough space just not enough room because of the engine setup. how do I post a pic? ill show you what the problem is.

I cut the radiator suport and moved the radiator forward.
I got rid of the hood latch assembly and installed locking hood pins to secure the hood.
I then had more room then I needed.

Try adding spacers behind the fan to bring it away from the engine and closer the the radiator or you could run 2 12\" electric pullers.
also try a seperate trans cooler, oil cooler, and maybe an auxillery cooler. The more surface you have cooling, the cooler it will run.
Also, use a higher pressure radiator cap. (something about higher pressure takes longer to heat up). http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif
