bought a 83 s10 w/ v8

ok so i just bought a 1983 s10 with a 350 in it. now what? what are the first things i should do too it? i dont know anything about engines....... thanks

Give us a little more info. You say it\'s already in it, what do you need to know?

it has a 350ci engine in it. it was converted to an automatic. drive2 runs great. but drive isnt that strong. feels real sluggish. i dont know what kinda transmission it is or what kinda engine, only that its a 350. are there ways to find these things out?



what should i do with it as in. tuning it up to make it run better. what would be some problem areas i would give attention too...

Lots to watch out for..cooling, worn out motor, and what not. You should change the plugs probably wires and maybe coil, fuel filter, oil filter, air filter..all just for starters. then see how she runs. If your still not satisfied, take out the motor and im sure we can come up with a good combo for you to have built.

what kind of plugs, wires, filters, should i use?

i dont want to go too cheap with the stuff... i mean i figure the better the parts the better the performance and reliability

I always perferred AC Delco products, they always been good to me over the years. Is it a 4 speed automatic or 3 speed? You could flush the tranny, but if it slips then it probaly needs a rebuild.

i am pretty sure its a 3 speed. i am goin to crawl under neath it tommorow to see what kind of tranny it is. like i said i just got it....
