what radiator do you need to run with a 350? i think the one in the truck i just bought is stock.. seems to me the truck is running hot but the temp gauge reads 160 degrees... maybe thats hot. i dont know

I would kill to have mine running 160! Dont mess with anything. Leave the radiator in it and dont touch a thing if its running that cool. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif

What makes you think it is running hot? Are you sure the gauge is working?

well the whole engine bay gets really hot to touch, the hood and all... im not sure the gauge is working... its an aftermarket gauge and was in there when i bought the truck.... thats why im asking if the stock radiator is ok to use... cause thats what is in there. and if it isnt ok. then i assume the gauge is wrong.. i just dont want to go thinkin the gauge is right and the radiator is the right one and then have it blow....

Mine gets really hot under the hood also. Could cook a turkey under there....lol. My run at 210 to 220 in traffic. My rule of thumb is if it starts to bubble over then its running to hot. But don\'t let it ever go over 230..thats bad news. Gauges are not that expensive, and fairly easy to hook up. I perfer the mechanical ones over electric. I got a real nice 3 gauge set at the local auto zone for about $40. If you don\'t trust the gauge then invest in some new ones. There good insurance to have. Guages can tell you alot about a motor. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

If you don\'t trust the gauge then change it.

It seems as though you don\'t know anything about the s-10 you bought. Did you at least kick the tires before you bought it? How could you spend your hard earned cash on something you don\'t know anything about??

Put on a new gauge then go drive in traffic. If its still at 160, your golden. BTW, how warm outside is it when you get that temp?

its been like 85 or 90 degrees F here the past few days. i notice when i start it and let it idle for a bit it does rise to around 220 degrees then once i start moving it lowers again..

still sounds like you have a normal sytem but a good one if it goes 160 down the road but i agree gauges are cheap and easy better to try another and be safe
