so what do i need to do a rebuild on my own? like a full shop?

if i take it to a shop to be rebuilt how much should i expect to pay for it? parts? labor?

i\'d say get a crate engine for as cheap as $1500 you can get a gm crate 350 if you do a cheap overhaul for as cheap as $500 and up.around here we have high school auto shops that do work just for the cost of parts an if you find a good school program i\'m sure the engine would last may be worth a shot and probly the easies cheapest way

look around... i got my shortblock w/ rebuilt bottom end for $150

I found my motor in a truck sitting in a corn field. Had the whole bottom end done for about $550. If you know what your motor is and its worth rebuilding, call around to some machine shops, usally in the yellow pages under auto parts somewhere. And see what they offer, if you can get it done cheap enough for the whole motor and they assemble it, that would save you the headache of trying to put it together. Maybe you\'ll even find a shop who will take out the motor, rebuild it and put it back in for you.
