I was just curious with how many of you are using the edelbrock carbs.I have gathered alot of resources and troubleshooting techniques dealing with this carb and if anyone has any questions, give me a shout.I will try to help you the best i can. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Im running an edelbrock performer 600 cfm electric choke carb. I really like it, the only thing is it appears that the power valve(or whatever its called) seems to be leaking, and the passenger side of the throttle shaft sounds like it has a vacuum leak, although it is not running lean. Just wondering if the leaking shaft and the leaking power valve are usual, and what it takes to fix them. I believe that the fix for the throttle shaft is to replace the plastic bushing or whatnot in there. I think it was caused from my dad putting a throttle return spring on way to tight and runnin it for a while like that. Well, let me know.

Replacing the bushings should solve the 1 problem that you have. You speak of a \"power valve\", it is called a pump drive.I have not heard of one leaking, but i will look to see if i can find a solution and reply. How old is the carb? Are you running a fuel pressure regulator? Is it burning rich?

cool.I have the 600cfm manual choke and love it.It ran a little rich at idle (enough to burn your eyes) and edelbrock said that they recommend a pressure regulator for all their carbs, even with a stock mechanical fuel pump.I am running mine @ 4psi with no problems.

i have a 750 performer carb with out the choke..... i cant seem to get it tuned right! right off idle, the truck dogs out and then comes in real strong..... i think that my idle is too rich and my WOT is too lean..... i tried messing with the jets and rods and springs, but i cant seem to get it right..... is there a better way to adjust them?

I need to know a few things.
Are you using a pressure regulator?
Can u give me some specs on your engine.
Do you have the spark advance vacuum line hooked to manifold or carb?
give me some more info on your setup and i will get right back with you...Jay

I feel left out, I am running a Holley.
I have thought about getting a Edlebrock if that counts.

ok....... i have an MSD Pro Billet distributor without vacume advance..... i have the holley red electric fuel pump without a regulator cause they are set a a pre set pressure for carbs..... i have the MSD 6 box with the 8.8 spiro pro wires..... and i have the RPM kit with the RPM heads, RPM Air Gap intake, and RPM cam.....i run 94 octane.... and the carb is now set with the stock jets and stock rods and stock springs..... where do i go from here?

I had to find some info on the pump you were using, it looks like it flows 0-4 psi, which looks fine.I would start off by checking the float level, even if it is new out of the box.The float level should be set at 7/16\".I would also check the filter going into the carb.If that does not help, use the link below that i found on the Edlebrock site.It goes into detail how to properly set up your carb including a jet-rod graph.

I have a 750cfm electric choke performer carb when i have my vacume advance hooked up to the timed vacume port it stumbles off of the take off at idle. but when i have the vacume advane hooked to to the full vacume port it clears up the stumble. is full vacume advance going to cause problems to my engine in the long run? i am running a fuel pressure regulator at 6 psi and im running a 350 with the entire performer rpm top half.

SS, if you\'re hooked up to full vacuum, that would be pulling your distributor to full advance at idle, negating the benefit of having it. What is your initial advance set at? I just set up an MSD on mine and 2-4 degrees made a difference at idle. Try setting in as much initial advance as your motor will handle, maybe 12-14 degrees. Then hook your distributor up to your timed vacuum port. The vacuum advance should give you another 15 degrees when you rev it. See if this helps.

Edlebrock 600- Seems to run a little rich. Adjustments didn\'t make a big difference. I use this carb on my 350 s-blazer snowplow/ trailor towing \'truck\'.The engine is mostly edlebroc equipt and was built for low end power. This carb on the first engine(305) got @ 15mpg, on the 350 @ 10mpg. I\'m not complaining about mileage, my RA Trans Am on its \'best\' day gets maybe 8 mpg.

The 600 usually runs rich and needs to be jetted down 1-2 sizes right out of the box depending on your elevation. They also seem to fair better with fuel pressure around 3.5 to 4.5 psi to avoid the eye burning richness. If you have the eye burning fumesfrom the exhaust start off with a good fuel pressure regulator.I made the mistake of buying the cheap Mr. Gasket fuel regulator that you can dial in.....JUNK.If that doesnt cure the problem, then work with the rods and jets.

im running an 650 edelbrock carb with and electric choke and i bought it in the summer so i did not even hook up the electric choke. but when it started getting cold i decided i should hook it up and it seems to do nothing it is still a real * to get started i got to pump it like 20 times and when i have someone start the engine and watch the choke it does not even move. Is the choke screwed? Could i just buy a new one and put it on the carb for cheap? Or is there a quick fix i might be able to do? Thanks

you could buy a mechanical choke and replace the electric. That\'s what I did.
It was very cheap to do
