I have a 90 S-10 w/4.3 auto trans and TBI fuel infection. I have a sb400 which is in the process of being redone when i get a few minutes to work on it. what i was wondering was being that the trans has electronic shift what will i need to make sure the trans will shift properly? is there any type kits on the market that will achieve this? or do i need to not worry about this? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

The shift is not controlled eletronically on a \'90 the TV cable controls shifting but the torque converter lockup is electronic. TCI makes a conversion w/ a vacuum switch to activate the lockup when swithing to a non-electronic engine. Are you changing torque converters when you change the engine? I would recommend it and make sure you get one with a lockup if you plan on driving it alot on the highway.

Once upon a time I had a 700R4 in a 55\'chevy pickup behind a 350 engine. By not knowing crap about it and hooking the electrical up wrong ; I burned it up in about 8 miles! Got another one from the junk yard and did the exact same thing! (call me a dumb a$$) I took that tranny to a transmission shop and had them rebuild it and they done away with the electrics by installing some kind of check valve (for non-computer cars)The tranny worked OK after that. So...
..... just be sure that whatever ya do is correct or it\'ll cost you......maiden voyage: I wouldn\'t go too far from home!!!!

Whatever ya do, dont plug the stock S-10 electronics in the tranny, mine had 4.3/700r4, when I swapped in the V-8 i thought i could keep the electronics.... wrong! in 1st gear my truck was sooo fast(front tires would come off the ground), but the torque converter locked up in 2nd, 3rd, and O/D, so it ran like ass, got doors blown off by Honda Civic : (
how embarrasing.

I had a 700 in I took it out I just didn\'t like it.
Make sure you look into have the tranny built so you can manually shift it, if you plan to race it.
Wouldn\'t stay in first past 4900 5000 rpm with shifter in first.
( I\'m much happier with the 3 spd )

No i haven\'t planned on racing it Bubba. Maybe from light to light every now and then. but i do plan on putting a shift kit and a converter in it to help it some. not going to put a lot into it. But i am going to get a t-350 and go through it so when the 700 bites the dust or when i get tired of it.
