sorry, i didn\'t know where else to find this out at, but is the 2.8 internally or externally balanced?

it depends on the yeari believe pre-86 in externally and 87-newwer is internally.i learned the hard way i put a 86 engine in a 88 truck with the 88 flexplate it vibrated like you wouldnt believe. its either 86 or 87 they changed it

It was in 87 or 88 that the 2.8L\'s were changed. prior to I believe were internal and after were external balanced. Switching engines?

my pickup is an 85, so it would be externally then right? i put a 3.4 out of a camaro in and i used the flywheel off my 2.8, cause i figured it would be weighted and balanced the same and would work, but it must be weighted different...cause ya....it vibrates BAD!
