i have never seen a a glide u could put into the 4wheel drive transfercase cause it has the cone like a 350 and any other trannys but if u take that off u mite be able to get one from advanced adapters...but i would do the regular truck its easier

just put the 283 on the stock tranny. the bolt pattern is the same from the 4.3 to the 283. this makes less hassle during the swap. just clearance the frame and firewall as needed and drop in the motor. 2cents, keep the change

They guy that builds my transmission has a shorty powerglide with a transfer case. I do not have any details on it but, I know he has built a few of these setups. Never found anything off the shelf though.

I would get a guarantee from the guy for sure if its custom work you dont waqnt to be caught with the bills if his work fails on you.

If I read your question correctly, it says you don\'t have a lot of knowledge regarding this swap. A 4x4 swap is going to be a challange using all the commonly used parts. A powerglide would make it a challange for an experienced mechanic who has done a few already.
Like Dipple says \"the guy who builds my transmissions has\". Obviouly, the tranny guy is some one very knowledgable in that area.
We are here to encourage these swaps and I say go for it.
But your second comment makes a lot of sense. With that engine/tranny combo go with the 2wd.
Maybe I\'m being the eternal pessimist here, but you never hear about all of the unfinished
conversions. Usually a result of getting in over your head. If you are an ASAE Certified Tech, my apologies and I will take my foot out of my mouth.
Small block 2wd is pretty straight forward and you should have no trouble.
Good luck
