I have gotten the new motor in the truck and I am tunning everything. I am have some problems with my engine that seem to be weather related. This happened to me twice so far and both times it has been raining pretty bad. I\'ll be driving just fine in the rain and then I will slow down to pull in to a driveway or stop sign and the engine will stall. Then it won\'t start and when it does it runs really bad. Then after a while when I do finally get is started It will run fine. This has never happened before exept in the pouring rain. Some other things that I have noticed that might be related are; In the morning the first time I start it, the engine fires right up. Then after that the engine becomes harder to start. And sometimes when I rev the engine slighty I will hear a slight \"dunk\", a really low pitched sound but not a knock in the bottom end. And it seems to miss or hestitate after 4500 rpm. The engine is a 350 with a 750 edelbrock carb, and a HEI ignition. I also have 9.5:1 pistons, cam and intake manifold. Thanks for any advice.

I had a problem for a while where the seal across the backside of the cowl was missing. Would get the distributor wet, cause all kinds of misfire and eventually flood the motor. Could be something like that seeing as you say its only when its pouring.

was about to say the same thing v8 if your wires are getting wet you might be getting cross fire with my cowl hood if seen similar problems ive added a lot of dielectic grease which solved the problem but in your case it could be one of your wires has a micro crack and when wet is shorting against the chassis check it out at night when its wet and see if you can see any blue arcking going on. grounding out could cause the hard starts after the engine has warmed up aswell you might be looking at a new set of wires even if the wires you have are new wires are the weakest point in an engine and can be easy to damage one bad rub or bend can lead to engine problems keep these wires away from any sharp or conductive surface.
also if youve flooded your engine more then a couple of times change your p[lugs because the gas gets absorbed by the porcelin in the plugs giving the spark a opath to travel through besides the tip and this can cause poor performace aswell.

Ok, I just replaced the wires but the same thing had happened before the change. I am using acell 8.8mm. I will try the dielectric grease and check my cowl seal. Thanks. If I have flooded it more than twice do you think that could contribute to the problems I am having above 4500 rpm. I was thinking about buying a MSD 6A ignition system to try and fix the harder starting and hesitation above 4500. In my area we have had alot of rain latley. Does the humity have a lot of effect on carbed motors ?

Icequeen doesn\'t like the idea of using periods, not even a scoch.. =)

Come on she used 2 of those periods. but at least she know what she talking about and doesnt ramble on and on and on!
Not that anyone on here does but on other boards it does.....................

lol sorry I sometimes forget that, punctuation makes for easier, reading. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif
I would go with bosch wires Im not a big fan of the accel\'s seen to many problems. also make sure you get wire spacers and, try and keep all your wires parallel so the dont cross feed each other. use lots of dielectric grease on all your connections to keep the weather out. if your running a carb setup go with an HEI distributor more energy output even for stock hei coils means better burn all around.
as for the spark plug issues Id recommend going with some new ac delco platinums and keeping flood starts to a minimum it really is a quick way to spend money if you know what I mean..
