Went to the strip with my new s10 drag truck.

406 sbc turbo 350 ford 9 inch 4.10 gears

p345 55 15 drag radials

Best et was 7.84 at 90 mph

I ran a few 8.1-8.2 runs at 90 mph with a 2.1 60 foot

QUESTION:

1.I am using slapper bars and am blowing the tires of on the start. I let the 345 drag radials air down to 15 psi. And was still spinning. Any Ideas???

2. I was going over the finish line in third gear at 5200 rpm. Something dosn\'t seem right as i should only be going 4200 with 4.10 gears and a 29.5 tire.

3. How low of air pressure has anybody run the BFG drag radials?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Scott

i would get some drag slick\'s or et street\'s...they radail\'s are\'t the best for traction ...espicialy on a light weight truck...as for your rpm...is your tach in good working order...make sure it is on the 8 cyclinder setting and not the 4-6 setting...or make sure that you tires are a true 29.5in tall...a radial is rated differentaly than a slick...also make sure that your tranny is not slipping and making your motor rev more...

well if ur running in the 1/8th and not the 1/4 ur rpms mite be rite as for them tires they r junk and if u can only do 1/8th mile racing throw more gear in it and get slicks

Thanks for the advise.

I am stuck with the drag radials because of buget restraints.

Question?

Does anybody know how much converter slippage is acceptable above stall speed.

Mine is a 10inch 3000 stall. Could this be my problem?

How about distance from the slapper bars to the contact point at rest. How far are you guys setting them? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

my bars are about 2in from the frame...they work but i have a full drag slick...you are just wasteing gas uesing those drag radials....im not sure on the slipage on the converter...it shpuld lock up at 3000 or so...also if you are only 1/8 mile ...put some 4.56 greas in it.at least...maybe some 4.88-5.43...

I currently have 4.10 gears and was crossing the line at 5300 rpm at 90 mpg 1/8 mile.

The motor is making big power but i ran with a 5400 chip in the msd box and shifted at 5000.

I am going to bump the shift to 5400 next week.

I don\'t want to kill the motor.

I think i am slipping in third gear as i found a line leak and the trans was 2 qts low on fluid.

I have a deep pan but don\'t have a pickup extension. Where can i buy one? This would give me a little more forgivness on fluid level.

I am going to try the tires at 10 psi.

MYTH...... LETTING AIR OUT OF A RADIAL TIRE WILL HELP????

NO!!! run them at 28 -32 psi to get a correct contact patch. the tire psi idea works in slicks but the radials are desiigned different. try putting different weight over your rear end. 200-400 to start with. anything to hold the tires down.

good luck
