I have a question that I hope some of the more electrical oriented members might be able to answer. I would like to hook up an a air fuel gauge in my truck. To do this I would need to have a working o2 sensor. I have a carbed 350 in a 95 s10 that had a 2.2. The oxygen sensor is hooked up to the exhaust manifold and to the computer. But since most of the other sensors are not being used I was wondering if the o2 sensor is actually working ? Thanks for any suggestions and advice.

well..... depending on what sensor you have you may need to replace it if its on the manifold chances are its a single wire sensor, which is good these sensors are pretty tuff. You simply hook the wire from the sensor to the signal wire of your fuel/mixture meter and away you go. There are a couple of catches first never let the sensor ground out on anything these sensors are like a battery they use a special metal that reacts to oxygen and high temperatures and this generates a small amount of voltage letting the sensor wire ground out will instantly fry these little buggers. If your sensor wire has more then one wire replace it these sensors have built in heating assemblies to get the sensor to a working range that is acurate enough but the voltage to the unit does not stay constant also there is a temp wire from it so it knows when to shut off these require a computer to function correctly and unless your guage comes equiped for it I\'d switch it for a single wire because there not to expensive anyway.
if you have any more questions let me know ok.

so I can use the one wire sensor with out a computer ? just hook the gauge to the sensor ? Thanks
