Can someone tell me how I can find TDC without pulling off my heads or just guessing by sticking my finger in the #1 hole and waiting for the air to blow out? I need something accurate because I\'m starting to get suspicious about my mark on the balancer. I think it might be wrong.
Thanks.
Oh yeah - what\'s up with the meow thing?

Umm, I\'m trying to remember exactly how, but if you take your valve covers off you can tell by looking at the valves on #1 cylinder, but I think you might have to check the valves on one of the other cylinders too because TDC will have both valves closed on #1 but getting it exact requires checking something else. I just can\'t remember but maybe someone else does or I\'ll check when I get home.

Meow and Meow..and then take the meow...I mean ...spark plug out and stick a thin rubber hose down the Meow...I mean cylinder. Start turning it over very slowly and the rubber hose will rise up as the piston is pushing it up.. When you get almost there; turn it over by hand. Takes 2 Meow...I mean people.Meow

Take #1 sparkplug out, Stick a small screw in the sparkplug hole.Take a ratchet with a 5/8 socket( i think thats the right size) and turn the crank.Turn it clockwise until you feel the piston push the screwdriver up.Stop the rotation when you feel the screw driver start back down. Its pretty easy.

You can buy a tool that will screw into the spark plug hole to find the exact TDC.

take a 3/8 drive extension and stick it in number one, rotate the engine over till it stops, scrib a mark on the balance, turn the engine all the way over the other way till it stops, scribe a mark on the balance, true TDC is exactly half way between the scribe marks.
Thats the cheap way to do it, but spend $12 and get a spark plug stop. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
