If i was to swap from my tbi to carb i would need to replumb my fuel sustem with a regulator in it along with a new carb and distributor and rewire that 2.

Can anyone think of anything im missing?

TBI is usualy only duel barrel unless you have an expensive after market unit. Id recommend changing your intake plenom. why the switch from tbi to carb?

are you running an intank pump of frame mounted? if its frame mounted simply swap to a electric carb pump.

the distributor will work it just wont have an advance which may hurt your fuel econonmy some.

if your getting rid of the tbi unit I\'ll take it off your hands http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif I want to swap from carb to tbi now so I can play withg making reallyy cheap inexpensive tbi harnesses.

Well the main reason i want to swap to carb is because im not happy with the tbi. The cam shaft doesnt create the same vaccumm as a factory cam. So i think the computer think the engine is constanlty under light load even when its just idleing. and its there for getting way more fuel than it needs, and thats with 305 injectors instead of 350 injectors. I really dont want to buy a new cam cuase this one only has like 4000km on it since installed.

the tbi is currently sitting atop a edelbrock 4 barrel carb intake with an adaptor plate so swapping to a carb is not a roblem. as forthe pumpim still usingthe original 2.8 in tank pump and havent had any problems

was your 2.8 a tbi motor? the 2.8 pump may have not had a high enough flow and could cause some problems.

would you be willing to donate the tbi unit, adapter plate any wire and computer parts to me? As I was saying I want to produce a low cost harness say in the 200-300$CA range. I can burn custom fuel maps to adjust for most kinds of cam\'s even wonky cams. Im also working on making it run with a different kind of computer so its more adaptable to engine changes ie performace upgrades..

I don\'t have any 2.8L parts but I found a kit throught holley for a fully tuneable tpi system useing a PC to tune it. They can also be used with a stock cammaro firebird and corvette tpi.

the holley tbi setup i have is about $1000 cheaper

first off the holley TBI is crap they use analog signals which are crap at best GM doesn\'t even touch that kind of a system. second you should be able to pickup a distributor and tbi unit for 150$CA at the most add the 200$CA cost for the harness and 50$ for the computer and thats 400$CA or 294.29$US so if you think the holley is 1000$ cheaper that means they pay you 705.71$ to use there system? for 1000$ I can give you a 4 BBL tbi unit/distributor/computer/harness for 400Ci and up. I will be able to give more accurate figures once I have the harness completed and base code done for the gm computer but it should be in that range.

just saying it was 1000 cheaper than the tpi holley setup. i have used most systems and they all have their pros and cons. cant be afraid to experiment in this game.

what setup do you have to custom burn proms? i have been looking for a setup to do my own for my fullsize.

I have a burner and A assembler its as easy as dropping in the prom and flashing a new table onto it. The burner I use is a NE EMP-10
