i am thinking of going with either a 4 link with coil overs or ladder bars with coil overs. this winter i am getting the rear tubbed. i think i am going to cut the frame after the cab and start from there. anyone prefer one set up over the other?

4 link is the way to go. 4 link is about the same price (little harder to build) but much more adjustable. I have been thinking about going the same route.

4-link all the way. The adjustablility at the track is better and the ride IMO is better too. Also takes up less space because ladder bars are so long to get the IC in the right place to launch.

4-links. The adjustability is the main reason. Besides, the fastest cars using suspension use 4-links so that oughtta be good enough. hehe http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif

Would a 4 link be advised on a daily driver with a 300hp- 400hp V-8?
I know they are good for dragracing but how about the street? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

they give a lil harsh ride, you can use air bag suspension to soften it up.theres 2 \'55 chevy\'s out here that have air bag susp. and they both run in the 8\'s.go for it!!!!!!

Warren Johnson was just here in podunk Artesia New Mexico a few months ago with his car in a car show....There are quite a few FAST cars around here though so its no biggie.

A 4 link w/coil overs set up right will ride better than your leafs any day. They handle better too.

That\'s what I was thinking too. I believe that the 4 link sometimes gets a bad rap because the proper springs (spring rate) are not chosen.

Get yourself a set of double adjustable coil overs. If you want to do it right. A race car set-up is much different from a street car set-up. This way you have a good amount of adjustability. You may come closer to having a suspension that can be tuned to work well on the street and still have good track bite ability. Call the tech guys at Koni and QA1. Not trying to be a smart ass but thats what they\'re there for. They might assist you in a set-up that will only require a few turns of the adjustment nut to get what you are looking for.
All a coil over spring is- its a big valve spring. All springs have a spring rate. This depends also on installed height. Just like a valve spring. If you compress the spring more you make it stiffer. You change the way the spring responds to a load. Hope this helps.
