Last night i was next to a kid i know in a honda accord. he just put an h22 in it and it was running like crap. to top off that it was running like crap he had the computer in there from his old f22 which probly made it run worse than with his bad h22 computer...anyways he takes off while we were going like 30 and then i take off after him so he had a jump but i couldn\'t pass him we stayed dead even in our spots. im really pissed. i know i only have a 305 but still it just sucks knowing a honda could beat you. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_frown.gif

But he didn\'t beat you...you said it was even...and he had a head start....... Do a couple mods and kick his ass.

realize that both your engines produce the same HP but not the same torque also realize that his car weighs a lot less then your truck with the proper engine mods and lightening up your truck you could blow his doors off that or just get NOS. his car was probably running rich which is why it was running poorly running rich wont rob you off to much power just make lots of smoke he can run the car fine with an f22 computer but he wont have the vtec unless he has something to engage its solenoid. personaly the h22 dont lasyt much over 100\'000 KM so you would have won eventualy http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

If you 305 is mostly stock, be lucky for that much. My 305 that was in my fullsize truck had 165 hp.

My TBI 4.3 had that much power, and was a lot lighter.

my motor has some head work done to it, a cam, an RPM intake and thats pretty much it. obviously not a 500 hp combo but my friend desk top dynoed it at 280 hp...i highly doubt it makes that tho

I am sure glad these kids are playing with 4 cylinders than with 450 plus cubic inches like we did in the seventys.

Even my moms car back then had a small \"390\" in the wagon.

In twenty years they will be racing mopeds and thinking the 4 cyl cars were huge engines.

LOL doghouse,

In twenty years they will be racing mopeds and thinking the 4 cyl cars were huge engines.

Thats good!

but not me in 20 years from now i hope to be playing with big block instead of small blocks!

well ya have to admit there playing with the right size motor for there car a small block would just be way to heavy for those little cars and drivability would suck so they had to convert the 4cyl engines into little monster power plants and with all the electronics today that become involved Ive actualy looked at some of the tricks and Im adding them to my harnesses because they actualy do give big boosts to power output. A v8 with variable valve timing would be quite the little beasty in my opinion!

ummm build a bigger and better motor , 305\'s are junk most stock imports can stay up with them , and to the guy who said your car wont run bad if its rich is an illiterate

First off Im not a guy Im a girl.

Second bub I never said the car wouldn\'t run bad I said it would not rob the car of to much power 15HP or so depending on how rich its running.

Third english wasn\'t my first language so I may make a few mistakes and calling me illiterate shows the kind of person you are doesn\'t it..

Do your homework and read through this board before you get into insulting its members ok.

yeah my plan is either to try to sell the truck or build a new motor for it...i am only 17 and have very little experience on building motors so i may just have the bottom half built for me since mine has a sweet oil leak! i\'m thinkin maybe a 383... i want a lot of power because i have another car to drive. i would LIKE to have say 400 hp and 450 ft lbs. i dont think that is too far fetched for a 383...anyone have any suggestions on that??

With the exception of the \"265\" all SBC can be made to run and be reliable. The \"305 is not a bad motor. Bone stock they did have some flaws. As for the comment about Anybody being illiterate here is in poor taste. I personnally have been impressed with \"IceQueen\'s\" inputs be it sometimes wordy and lacking periods, but very helpfull. I think we need a pole of how many english majors we have on this site?????

if you know what you are doing in the first place the 305 can be built to impress any one who knows what it is. basic physics is all we do in building power. apply the right laws and you can build a decent motor. the only law to remember is there is no replacement for displcaement. bigger is better in most cases. build it right......it will run with the best!

yeah i do have a 350 too but its torn apart. it was awaiting a rebuild but im deciding on building one with the block i have or buying one or something similar to it, already assembled, to the post i made the other day.

i would suggest building what you have. it is cheaper in the long run. it will also give you the experience and pride in building your own. find some one local that will guide yu throught the building process to ensure you don\'t do anything wrong. find someone you can trust to help you

the thing is i want to build a 383 and from what i have read there are a few factors to deal with for clearances and such. also i wouldn\'t know what parts to match together...i know my dad can help me build it, he took a class on engine building. but you are right i would love to say i built the motor myself.
