this is on a 91 jimmy so it\'s IFS. i took the trans cross member out but left the one that just interfers with the tcase. i can\'t get the engine to come forward at all to pass the rear cross member. the tcase is only being held up by an inch or so. the problem is the oil pan won\'t let the engine come forward to clear the rear. i guess i don\'t knwo what to do

are you just taking the engine out or the engine and trans? if your taking thew whole thing out take off the transfer case it\'ll save you the hassle.. IMO

stupid question... did you disconnect the 4x4 shifter from the transfer case? it mounts to the top of it... right where the tranny and transfer case connect...

Its probably best to disconnect your shifters and remove them to make removal of the engine a lot more pleasant having to go at extrememe angles to try and clear these is just insane http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

how does the tcase disconnect? because that would make it alot easier. I did remove a linkage that came from the transfer case it was a solid bar is there another one?

basicaly there is a neck between the tans and transfer case take the bolts off between the neck and transfer case have a pan handy to catch lots of trany fluid when you seperate them also might be prudent to have a jack under the transfer case.

its almost better to take out the engine and trany out seperate. The oil pan doesnt alow the engine to move forward and the trany doesnt let it lift up i took them out seperately it seemed prety easy like that
