to me this seems like a good deal. anyone care to give some opinions i would appreciate them. http://www.speedomotive.com/450%20H.P.%20SBC%20STREET%20WARRIOR.htm i would probly get the complete one for 3 grand. since i dont have much experience assembling engines i wanna work on something that wont need to be as reliable i guess.

all that on a 2 bolt block? i wouldnt. but it is a good deal. i just dont like the 2 bolt sound. the comfort of the extra strength on the lower end would be better. call them and see if you could have a 4 bolt for that price or have splayed mains added at cost.
with a 4 bolt you could spray it wih nitrous and the lower end would last a bit longer.

if you read through to the bottom, you\'ll see that you can get a 4 bolt for an additional $150...

You really don\'t need 4 bolt mains until about 600 hp, unless you have a blower or laughing gas http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif . the thing that worried me was the crank....6500rpm with a nodular crank..... not good, and it has the 400sb short rods, the longer the rods, the easier it is on the cylinder walls. 5.7in is the norm, 6.0in is better in a sb. I guess they had to save money somewhere

cast pistons and nodular crank and 2 bolt main....this motor in my opinion would not last a full season at the track without a problem. to each his own

i see, i understand what your saying...i could opt for the 4 bolt block and maybe the h-beams for some strenght? i think there was also an option for a better crank too...if i upped the bottom ends\' strength how does it all sound?

the bottom end is your weak point in an engine. the heads and cam combination is the heart of your power. you have to build evenly to ensure it last long enough to get your money worth. remember you get what you pay for. make it strong and it will last longer.

A stock 2 bolt main will not last to 600hp, but using ARP main bolts on a 2 bolt will make it just as strong as a stock 4 bolt. And the limits on an engine with arp bolts is good till the 450 hp mark, anymore than that you need to splay the mains.
