My dad was explaining to me how the rochester quadrajet\'s suck. They\'re not easy to work on like a holley or edelbrock. But how well would one perform atop a mild engine? About how many Cfm are they?? Last but not least.. Anyone who has a 600cfm holley or edelbrock carb for pretty cheap, get ahold of me. I would like to buy it. Thanks!

Qjets are good carbs, they just require a little finessing to get to run well on a modified engine. The were available in 700 to 850 cfms. Icequeen and Fasrnur are both running qjets. I would but I have 2 or them that need throttle plate bushings and major rebuilds. No time to fix yet

I love my q-jet the spread bore setup is amazing when the va* operated secondaries burst open the truck just flies and this is with 33\" tires and 3.08 gearing and only a three speed THM475 automatic...

I also love the sound it just screams!

The only people who dont like q-jets are those who dont understand them I did research on them and learned how to rebuild mine got the kit it was a snap drilled out the idle screws and had fun with it.

I mean if GM uses it on almost every cabed vehicle they sold with a v8 you figure it out. I mean sure its a little more involved then other carbs but hey so is EFI but does it mean its sucks? No.

i hate quadrajets... have a bunch laying around, but everybody i know hates them too, so nobody wants them. Invest in a good holley..alot easier to tune.

Q-jet is not a bad carb.....its great cause its got the small primaries and super large secondaries So you don\'t have to do much except make sure its in working condition.. some just figure a holley 600 is a upgrade but its not.....now if you are going to be playing with jets and what not then by all means get the holley

Like belly buttons everyone has opion off the much misunderstood Q-Jet. I like Icequeen and others like the Q-Jet and run them with good success. I get 19mpg and still get the kick in the pants performance. The edelbrock carb is one that I don\'t like and have heard some bad things abouth them from people that run them. The holley is a good carb in my opion if you want all out performance and you can get good milage also.

These are just my opions,

Jeff....

yeah. But after researching, i found out that very fine tuning is required to get the performance out of them. Seemed like it should be done by a professional to be right. You have to change the uhh... metering rods i believe to the correct length that corresponds to your cam. And the piston spring must be softer or stiffer based upon the amount of vacuum your drawing. ETC ETC.. it really sounded a little over my head, to get the REAL performance AND gas mileage out of one of these carbs.
