has anyone ever put one of thoughs v6 grand national engines in a s-10 before? i\'ve heard they have amazing power and i think it\'d be fun to still have a v6 that was just as fast as a v8

i know a guy who had one....this was before i was into building s10\'s...so i did\'t pay much attention...but i do rember him saying that it was not easy...it was the turbo\'s and the exaust for them that was the problem....it did run high 13\'s low 14\'s and got 25miles a gallon ...with a/c...etc...

Realizing that this IS the V-8 S10 board, I post this only for the educational purpose. Plus, my bud Russ has an awesome truck!! Take a look at his Grand National \'96 S10. Kinda funny though, it contains parts ranging from original Chevy and Buick obviously to Ford, Dodge, and Acura!! Later, Derek

4.3 turbo motor from a syclone or a typhon and I think the 25th ann transam had on in it too........might be a easier swap and its a faster motor

that trans am had the 3.8 in it and i never seen a motor that could hang with that 3.8 when it has minor stuff done to it

they are 13 second cars stock and minor upgrades can take them well into the 11\'s. i have a friend with a daily driven gn and it has minor parts on it and its 11.60\'s all day

There was never a T/A with a 6 in it that I have heard of. I thought what set a T/A apart from a Firebird was that the Firebird came with a 3.8 and the T/A came with the 5.7. I could be wrong but thats what I thought.

L67 is a SC 3800 that would not be a bad swap too.........you might have to fab the motor mounts

It was the 20th anniversary T/A that had the turbo 3.8. They were made in 1989 and were the Indy pace car that year, and if I remember correctly they were all white. They have a different cylinder head than the buicks to clear the strut tower brace, and they actually made more power. I had a friend with one, and it was a pretty fast car.

Grand nationals are sick. Some of the most streetable 9 second cars I have ever seen are gn\'s. I had seriously considered this swap but locating that engine in Canada is difficult but I also would miss the sound of the v8.
