Iv got a 1992 S10 short bed. I am going to put a v8 in it soon. Im not sure if im going to use a 400 or a 350 but that dont matter. I am talking in the range from 250-350 hp. I was just wondering if everthing is going to hold up? Transmision, rearend, ect....

I can use all the help i can get...so any words of advice will be very helpful.

So your wanting to use the stock rear end and tranny....The rear end will hold if your not running big slicks and tons of power. The tranny.....well, you need to read some of the threads in the transmission section and make that decision for your self.

this seem to be a on going question....man it depends ..i have seen stock 350 in a s10 and break the rear the first pass..and than theres me...i built my motor to where it does not have much low end power but has a shit load at the top end around 7000 ..that way i can use my stock rear end ..most break happen at the starting line under lots of power and torqe...and for a stock tranny,,..heck no..it may last but it sure is a big pain to put a new tranny in ...in my truck i have to pull the motor to get the tranny out..but hey ...if stock is what you have than go for it..i have seen some stock stuff hold up for a longgggg time...have fun http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

i have a 400hp 350 and stock rear end seems to be doing fine. Though im going to be putting in a differant rear in soon.

Hey guys thanks for all your imput. I forgot to tell yeah that my s10 had the 2.5 L in it. I dont know if that makes any difference. I just thought i would through that in. Thanks for all your help!
