I am trying to purchase a 96 S-10 2 wd with a 4.3 Vortec. Plan to get 350 etc. Will your kit p8-s10swapki work? What are the chances of getting the computer system to work?

Throttle body on the 4.3 and haven\'t got a 350 yet. I would prefer fuel injection on 350 if headaches are bearable.. Suggestions on a 350 appreciated. Can the auto transmission on the 4.3 be used also? Thanks!!

Make sure the cam is for computer use! If not it won\'t run right! ya the trans should work. And if use the throttle body off ur 4.3 u need bigger injectors for 350.

um.....

Get a 350 right out of a truck, use it as is. Wiring harness from the TBI 4.3 will plug into the 350 TBI with a computer swap.

It is very easy.

Use the same 4.3 trans because they are the same as a fullsize (4l60e) and the 4.3 tq converter, that way you will get a higher stall.

i have a 95 with a 4.3 and a NV3500.

could i also get a a 95 full size ECM and 5.7 liter to fit to my nv3500?

i know i would have to run two more wires to the two extra fuel injectors. but would i be able to use the NV3500

maybe i should just carb a different 350

any suggestions would be very very helpful

thanx

no that won\'t work. A TBI 5.7 out of a 95 is no where near close to those cpi 4.3\'s wiring.

Bcd, I\'m confused. I read your initial question and got the impression that the engine was a

\"Vortec\" 4.3. Chevy has thrown that word around so much it doesn\'t mean anything any more. But as I remember things back in 96 the term Vortec meant CSEFI on the S10 with a 4.3. (Central Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection) Which is the same system used on the \"Vortec 350\" (except it has 2 more nozzles) You should be able to swap in a 1996 \"vortec 350\" and ecm with very little difficulty. Provided you get the complete harness and ECM that was originally on that particular engine. The Vortec 350 is a kick ass motor and is clean burning and good on gas to boot. Other engines could be used, but you would be sacraficing something. Driveability, mileage, performance or pollution.

Done right it would be the S10 GM should have built.

I did a TBI V6 to TBI V8 swap in my Astro van

and had to lengthen one wire. By sticking with what was in the vehicle it was simple. I have also done a MFI (TPI) swap into my 94 TBI S10. The wiring took weeks and I ended up using two computers so that the AC, Cruise and transmission would work correctly. It still has a few little gliches. I did the Astro 2 years later and it worked fine the first day. Having learned from my mistake of trying to change the type of injection.

Of course, you could also go with a carb and only need to hook the pink wire to the distributor. In a 96 my opinion is that would be a cobble job.

I\'m sure this swap has been done right by someone, just keep asking around. If you can get in touch with Mike Knell (JTR) he surely has done it or knows someone who has. Last I knew he was a member here.

Me

The 95 and 96 s/t trucks could have come with 3 possible choices for the 4.3 series. TPI, tbi and SFI.

They are all considered \"vortecs\". the 4.3 tbi was the traditional tbi motor with vortec heads, the TPI was a step up from the tbi and now the cleanest 4.3 is the sfi model.
