Here in Commerce, GA where there is a national event, the tech is pretty strict. Under 14.0 you cannot have a passenger, you must have long pants and a helmet that is OK by NHRA.com. You must have your battery tied down with preferrably metal, not plastic hold-down, you need to have the nitrous either outside, or with a blowdown tube. You cannot have fluids going on the track, so you need a catch-can. If I forgot somethig, just check the rest on this:

one the thing\'s i see almost every week is that a lug nut is missin...so make sure that you have lost one....here in tulsa oklahoma...if we run a 13.99 or faster than we have to have a helment...wearing pant\'s is just plain smart....like the other guy\'s said make sure you have a over flow can..a good battery hold on(again just a smart idea)a battery grounding out is not good...if the track is very strict...keep the rubber fuel line under a total lenght of 12 inch\'s...some track\'s check for a netral safety switch...and the saet belt\'s need to be in good working order...if you have slick\'s (again just a smart idea)than they will be looking for a drive shaft saftey loop...a drive shart coming out at 90-100mph can\'t be good... when truck -cars run around this time and mph...it;s prety much a standard safety check...common sence is the most thing you can take to the track...

Smaller, hometown tracks usually won\'t mess with the really small stuff. I have no door handles, and so far(knock on wood, crosses fingers) I havne\'t had any problems. Most all will make you wear a helmet under 14.0.
Like the others said, safety stuff is common sense. I don\'t see why all rwd vehicles don\'t have a loop. I know I\'ve dropped joints before on non performance vehicles.

MIke... as said before for High 13\'s Helmet, long pants, and atleast a Tshirt is required... NHRA has been having troubles with people not wanting to wear all their clothes in the heat of the summer and we have DQ\'d people because of it... Seat belt, Nothing loose in the cab or bed... brass oil gauge line... other than that, the typical stuff... Driveshaft loop if running slicks, Nuetral safty, reverse lockout...
If anyone has any questions about any NHRA rules or procedures, you can EMAIL ME cause I spend most of the race season traveling to Division 5 races doing just that... 3 days of Teching cars, and 1 day of pairing cars in the elmination rounds...
I have a cracked windshield
I have no reverse lockout on my shifter
No catch can
My battery tiedown is a joke
Plastic oil guage line
and my 2 front tires are to the wear bars

the catch can/overflow container for the rad is $9 at Advance and AZ and Bump, The battery tie down is $4 at every auto store. Otherwise I think that they will not give you a hard time, unless you start running in the 11s.

i\'m now in the mid 14\'s... i see a number of cars that are not all that well set up making it through tech on test -n- tune night...
Mike let me know when you\'re rready to go one night. We had prolly 100 to 150 cars running last night...i made 6 passes in less than 3 hours with some time in the middle to let the engine cool off. A door slammer, Vette Pro Stocker, ran 7.29 @ 175 last night...

It all depends on how strict the track guys are. If you race on a test and tune night they will usually let you get by with a lot more stuff. I guess the easiest way to find out is try to race and see what they point out for you to fix.
