About a year ago, i decided to put an lt1 in my 2000 xtreme, and quickly discovered that is was too much involvment for me at the time, so i put hte project ont he back burner.. The desire for an s10v8 has never stopped, so today i got my new project.. I traded a set of s10 doors for an 86 s10 regualr cab 2.8 5 speed... I figure this will make the perfect truck for me to start my v8 swapping career with.. Im thinkin about maybe a 383 for beginners.... I knwo it will not be cheap, but a 1st gen should be much cheaper and easier than the 2000 i almost attempted!

They\'ll both be abouth the same amount of work. The later one you\'d have to contend with is the computer stuff.
Keep asking questions and good luck!

I know it will still be a lot of work, it just seems that without the computer to deal with, it will be MUCH less than the 2000 would have been.. and the fact that i was gonna have troulbe cutting on a 2000 xtreme i was still paying for....

If you\'re cutting, you\'re doing something wrong.
A V8 swap is a simple performance enhancement that need not alter the vehicle permanently. Be nice to that truck and it will be nice to you. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

cutting ...is just a figure of speach....what he means is that he don\'t want to mess with a truck that is still owned by the bank....i wound\'t do any thing until the extream is paid off....what if you put all the time and money in it and got hurt or lost your job and the truck got repoed....as fpr the motor...screw the small block...do it right the first time and put a big block in it...with a small cam and some gears...(3.73) and it will fly
