so, im working on my engine, finally getting to taking it apart so i can start my rebuild, and i discovered a wasps nest, so i get the bright idea of spraying water at it. man those wasps are pissed, i dont dare go near the engine for at least an hour now.

oh yeah, no i didnt get stung, but the nest is now ruined http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

same thing happened to me and my buddy sean when we were workin on his. the nest was in the door. thing was the size of my fist with a good 50 wasps on it. never seen a nest that big. we hit it with spray paint. that way none of em flew away. there was alot of blue wasps crawlin around on the ground tho. after the paint we sprayed the nest with carb fluid and torched it.

Just get some Raid bug spray and a lighter, then you are cooking. I had a smaller nest than both of ya\'lls nest in my first S10 and since then I have a can of raid and lighter and a fire-extinguisher all on the same shelf.

Oh yeah! My \'87 Blazer has apparently been sitting in a field for a few years before I got it. I\'ve only found one wasp nest (so far) but also lots of mouse nests and spiders, etc. The wasps were amazing though. After several 100 mile trips and even a trip to the local auto repair place, they were still in there (behind the left headlight) and nobody got stung. I found them by accident and Raid took care of the problem but it surprised me how they stayed in there while on the road at 70 mph. I would have thought they would blow out!

STARTING FLUID !!! best stuff on the shelf! it is way better than any raid or carb cleaner. one shot kills em dead. TRUST ME !!!

i had the same damn problem with the mice when i put the motor in my truck. it was in the garage for almost 6 months and i had the carpet out and rolled up in the corner. then i went to put it back in the truck i unrolled it and found meeses chewed it all up and shat all over it. i was not pleased. so to even the score up some i put a ton of mouse traps out there and my buddys cat.

well, id love to try burning them, but my garage is all old wood... ant itll burn, and burn very quickly, then id have to explain as to why the boat and car and other things are burnt, other than the garage... on the other hand, itll get rid if that nest and any other nest in there...

I didn\'t know I had a wasp nest until I put my Blazer in the garage and closed the doors. At first I couldn\'t figure out how the first one got in the garage, then the next, and the next... Then I saw one come out of the front grille and I figured it out. It\'s been in there for 3 weeks now (blown motor) and no more wasps so I guess I got them all.

Engines love gas; wasp\'s don\'t.
