Is the 4l60e the tranny that comes with the newer 5.7 vortec fullsize chevy pickups? If so would there be any reason to replace the 4l60e I have in my 2000 ZR2 if I am going to use a 5.7 vortec?

I would upgrade the tranny some. I have heard that the input housing is prone to cracking in the stocker as well as the I think the sungear housing, or some jazz, needs strengthening.

torque and stall are the same thing. all it does is convert torque. stall refers to when this conversion takes place. it is best to have one matched to the application. if you want a performance convertor then call one of the companies like b&m or tci and describe what you have and what you want to a tech rep. they will set you up.
another thing is if you are staying close to stock on the engine you can always use a vette or camero convertor. these usually have a bit of performance built in them. you can also go to a local tranny shop that is good. not joe\'s transmission in the back woods with more cars parked around his shop than he knows what to do with. go to a repitable one. they can get you setup with what they have on the shelf. they refer to k-factor in rating convertors. im still trying to learn k factor myself. i\'ll stick with stall. see the relation. stall / k-factor.
hope you get the idea and all this confusion helps. im confused now????????
by the way, if you have the engine out and all this swapping is going on, CHANGE THE SEAL!!
THIS WILL DIS-SPELL A FUTURE LEAK.

Thanks for all the info, as you can tell I\'m new to all of this. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gifDo you guys think it would be better the beef up the stock tranny or buy a new on? I won\'t be racing. This will be my daily driver and used for mild off road. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/fart.gif
