NP207 NP231 differences?

What are the differences between these 2 T-cases? Ive heard that they are the same.

I believe they can be swapped. The difference is that the 231 has a front wheel disconnect

mechanism in 2wd. I suppose that would give a slight mpg improvement and reduce wear on the front drive assembly. Particularly the u joints. In practical application I doubt you\'ll ever notice the difference.
