I have a 98 reg cab. It weighs over 3000lbs and it came with the 4L60e. What is the difference between the 4L65e. I will be putting in a Ls1/Ls6 motor into my truck. I will be giving it about 450hp and also put a 100hp shot of nitrous. (That\'s 550h.p.) I will be dropping in a ford 9inch in with 373 gears. What can I do to make the transmission handle 550hp. It also needs to handle slicks. I\'m not putting a th400 in because i want overdrive. I am also keeping it auto. (Twin turbos may be in the distant future!)

I doubt your tranny will hold that. I got $5 on it that says you\'ll burn out the 3rd gear clutchs.

I havne\'t seen anyone that has one hold that much power yet.

I\'ve been doing a lot of reading on them lately. And they are pretty strong trannies. True they aren\'t as strong as the th400s and you loose more power than the th350s but overall they are a great o/d tranny. I found out about the problems and it is stupid crap that if GM spent a little more money it could stand a hit from Fatboy.

You would think GM could find a better thing to put between the sun-shell and low reverse race than a plastic washer. Especially in an area that recieves a lot of power. Instead they let us mod it our selves. Usually after we are left stranded on a backwoods road and have to tow it home.

But the name of the game in Detroit is money. And plastic is better than steel. When it comes to price. Even though the price doesn\'t come down either. The big 3 have become too greedy. My machine shop has made countless things for GM. We designed the TV\'s for the Chevy Venture mini-van, a device that puts the onstar intenas on. We help make a box that went into Dale Earnhardt\'s car to measure tire temperature during practice. But they don\'t call us anymore because we are a machine shop not a plastic molding shop.

But anyways when I buy my motor most of them come with a transmission anyways. So I\'ll take that one and rebuild it. When mine blows up I\'ll put that one in.
