I have a 98 S-10 and a 96 Sanoma. Im interested in putting a 350 in the 98 s-10. Someone who already purchased the manual said that it only coverd up to 97. Im wondering if there is a problem with conversions past 97 models, anything I should know before I continue onward? My main concern is if there is something significantly different about the 98 and up models that has kept many people from converting them. any advice would be greatly apreciated before i spring for the time and money to start.

Thanks,

Mikel http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

i dont think there is much difference in the models. but, the fact that most of the newer trucks still have good sound engines in them that a conversion won\'t be done. my old lady has a 99 model and i\'m not touching it till the eng goes. just dont make since otherwise. besides, she is still paying on it.

ok thanks. I understand, My 96 has a blown engine, so my plans are to swap the 98 s10 engine into the sanoma, then use it as an everyday truck. and throw the s10 in the shop, and have a little fun.

You can convert a 98. I read an article a few years ago where they took an extended cab and put a Ls1 motor in it. The frame is the same from the 80\'s all the way to final departure of the 10. They did though put a 5.3L Oil pan on the Ls1 cause the other was scraping the ground. If all else fails grab a cutting torch and a welder and make it work.

Smitte, please explain further about the frame. How much of it stayed the same? Mainly im curious about the 4x4 frame. I kcow that sometime in 88, GM took out the middle crossmember for some reason.
