tail switch

my 700r4 has a mechanical speedo, i\'m going to use the stock gauges now so i\'m under the assumption that i can take the tail off my old tranny (4l60e or something like that) and put it on my 700. will this work? is it that hard? i will be messin with the tranny prob in like a week or 2, installing lockup controller, tv cable and prob this tail switch too.
