I am hoping someone can help me . I am getting ready to pull the motor and put in a new one so what I am asking is bieng this my first s-10 with a v8, What is the best way to pull the motor and trans. It has a 700 r4 and a smallblock in it already. So what I am wondering is how the easiest way is to remove both parts and what little tricks can I do to make it smoother. Like from start to finish I can get all the accessories off myself but never seen the headers come off and such. And can the motor and trans be done at the same time? I have heard that you have to remove the body bolts and lift the cab a bit to remove it all. Is that true? or can it all come out the front as 1 unit? I am planning on taking the entire front end off the truck for easier access. Can this be done with the entire engine in place or do I have to remove some parts first to get the front end off?

Thanx abunch,Rob

take the hood off, have some help, use a picker, take anyting off that you can, unbolt the tranny from the truck, eat a good breakfast, unbolt the exhaust, don\'t remove any body bolts, putting the front end on jack stands don\'t hurt any.

i installed my motor and tranny as one unit. i also completely disassembled the front end. fenders, wheel wells, hood, radiator support, bumper. it made it alot easier plus i wanted to clean up everything. and paint the frame
